Now that a new gate has been installed at the main entrance, donated by Archbishop Emeritus Lipscomb, the original carriage gates restored thanks to an anonymous donation, and the original Spring Hill College gates, donated by Rev. Greg Lucey, SJ, president of the college, refurbished and placed at the entrance to the new section of the cemetery and smaller ones in front of the Blessed Mother, both thanks to a grant from the Hearin-Chandler Foundation and the Halliday family, the goal of the New Fence Project is to enhance the exterior appearance of the Catholic Cemetery by installing new fence sections along Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. and eventually around the entire perimeter. There have been a total of 50 new sections installed so far and there are only 104 spaces left across the front.
Perimeter fencing sections are being funded through individual or family donations of $550 per 7' section. Each section includes a 3 ½” square brass dedication plaque. The donation is tax-deductible.
